Beverly Jeanne Peterson, 86, of Lafayette, died at 10:10 am Monday, January 13, 2014 at Creasy Springs Health Campus. She was born July 22, 1927, in Lafayette, to the late Joseph Patrick and Hazel Elizabeth Tyrie Mitchell. Jeanne graduated from Lafayette Jefferson High School in 1945. On February 5, 1972 she married Robert C. Peterson in Lafayette. He died in 1996. She was an account clerk at Purdue University for 28 years before retiring in 1995. Jeanne was a member of First Christian Church and volunteered at the Riggs Community Clinic for 13 years. She enjoyed gardening, bowling, reading, spending time with her pets, and was an avid sports fan especially Purdue basketball. Surviving are two daughters Viki Tillotson (Tim) of Bainbridge, Lynne Blair (Bruce) of Lafayette; three grandchildren, Brian Nelson, Melissa Shelton, and Kyle Blair; three great grandchildren Alex and Isabella Nelson and Noelan Shelton. Jeanne was preceded in death by two brothers Norman and Eugene Mitchell. Visitation will be 5:00 until 7:00 pm Thursday, January 16, at Soller-Baker Lafayette Chapel with funeral services at 10:00 am Friday, January 17, 2014 at Soller-Baker Lafayette Chapel 400 Twyckenham Blvd Lafayette, IN 47909. Rev. Greg Eberhard will be officiating. Entombment will follow at Tippecanoe Memory Gardens. Those wishing may contribute to the Riggs Community Clinic or Almost Home Humane Society.
