Betty June Harper

Betty June Harper, 79, passed away Thursday, May 12, 2016 at IU Methodist Hospital in Indianapolis surrounded by her family. She was born on June 7, 1936 in Lafayette to the late Delia (Scott) Braman and Arthur Carte. Betty graduated from Lafayette Jefferson High School in 1954.

She was employed as a book keeper for many years at Tippecanoe Foods. After retiring, she worked as a paraprofessional at Mayflower Mill, Wea Ridge and Wyandotte Schools . She also was an “Avon Lady” for many, many years.

Betty was a member of Eagles Aerie #347 where she served as Past Madame President and Madame Treasurer. She was a 50 year member of Legion Post 11. She was also a Member of Beta Sigma Phi and Red Hats. She enjoyed reading, ceramics and loved Sunday dinners with her family.

Survived and loved by her sister, Linda Carte Bradley (husband Jim). Nieces: Jill Kendrick, Jackie Jones (husband John) Jamie Mills (husband Brad) and Janella Riley (husband Steve). Great nieces and nephews: Erica and Blake Kendrick, Jessica Gick (husband Chase), Jenna Jones, Julia Wiley (husband Ben), Josie Jones, Kyle Mills (wife Audrey), Chad Mills (wife Kylee), Nicholas and Anna Riley. Great-great nieces and nephews: Jackson, Cooper, Madison, Zoe, Carson, and Cord.

Visitation 5-8pm Monday May 16, 2016 Soller-Baker Lafayette Chapel with Phi Beta Sigma service at 7:30pm and Eagles Auxiliary service at 7:45pm. Funeral service 10:00 am Tuesday Soller-Baker Lafayette Chapel, Fr. Eric Underwood officiating. Burial to following at Spring Vale Cemetery.
