Bernard C. “Buck” Hudgens, 92, of West Lafayette, passed away on September 22, 2014. He married Sadie A. (Johnson) Hudgens on August 16, 1947 in Detroit, MI and she survives. Buck had a 50+ year career in automotive engineering at Ross Gear/TRW. He was an innovator in the realm of power steering, holding numerous patents. He enjoyed flying planes/gliders, fishing, and tinkering in his workshop. Buck was very proud of his Navy career, having served during WWII. One of the cherished highlights of his life was taking part in the Honor Flight program in April 2012. We will all remember Buck as an engineer, fisherman, pilot, and bow-tie-clad gentle soul. But most importantly as Husband, Dad, Grandpa, and friend. Survivors include 3 daughters, Patricia (Hal) Hefner, Nancy (Jim) Souers, Janet (Kent) Lindeman, 7 grandchildren, and 5 great grandchildren. Visitation will be on Saturday, September 27 from 12:00 Noon to 1:00 PM, with services immediately following. A private burial service will be conducted at Tippecanoe Memory Gardens. Memorial contributions in Buck's memory can be made to Honor Flight, PO Box 275, Lafayette, IN 47902. www.lafayettegoldstarmothers.org
