Barbara J. Kantz

Barbara J. Kantz, 78, of Lafayette, died at 2:25 p.m. Monday, May 3, 2010, at St. Anthony Health Care.
Born May 21, 1931, in Chicago, she was the daughter of the late John P. and Dorothy L. Cook Marsteller.
She graduated from Lafayette Jefferson High School in 1949 and from Purdue University in May 1981.
On July 3, 1952, she married Donald Kantz in Lafayette, and he survives.
Mrs. Kantz was a clerk in the athletic department, admissions department and registrar&s office at Purdue University, and retired in 1980.
She was a member of Trinity United Methodist Church and was a former member of the Moose Lodge, American Legion and 40&8 auxiliaries. She enjoyed sewing, knitting, flower gardening and refinishing antique furniture.
Surviving with her husband are her daughters, Karen Kauppila (husband: Todd) of North Royalton, Ohio, and Lisa Chaney of Lafayette; and a brother, John W. Martseller (wife: Becky) of Cape Coral, Fla.
Also surviving are 5 grandchildren, Jason, Kristen, Derrick, Lauren and Kaitlyn; and a great-granddaughter, Taylin.
Visitation 1 hour prior to a 2:30 p.m. service Thursday at Soller-Baker Lafayette Chapel, 400 Twyckenham Blvd. Interment at Tippecanoe Memory Gardens. In lieu of flowers, memorials to the National Kidney Foundation.
