John Bresnahan, 91, of Lafayette, passed away peacefully at 6:02 AM Saturday, November 3, 2012, at his residence after a short illness.
He was born September 8, 1921, in Lafayette, to the late William and Cecelia Flannigan Bresnahan.
He graduated from Lafayette Jefferson High School in 1940 and served in the United States Navy during WWII.
On November 28, 1946, he married Helen Fassnacht in Lafayette.
John retired from Haywood Printing as a bookbinder in 1986.
He was a member of St Lawrence Catholic Church, American Legion Post #11 and the VFW. John enjoyed bowling and pitching horseshoes.
Surviving along with his wife Helen, are their five sons Tom (wife Marcia) and Bruce both of Lafayette, Ed (wife Maryann) of Brookston, Dave (wife Deb) of Monticello, Chuck (wife Linda) of Concord, NC; three daughters Kathy Sandifur (husband Bob) of Plano, TX, Maureen Lintner (husband Steve) of Coden, AL, Colleen Bjork (husband Jim) of Lafayette; two brothers Harry of Mulberry and Bob of Florida; 14 grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by 8 brothers and sisters.
Visitation will be Wed, Nov. 7, from 4:30 ? 7 p.m. at Soller-Baker Lafayette Chapel 400 Twyckenham Blvd Lafayette, IN 47909. Funeral Mass will be at 10:30 a.m. Thursday Nov. 8, at St Lawrence Catholic Church 1916 Meharry St Lafayette, IN 47904 with Fr. Daniel Gartland officiating. Burial will follow at St. Boniface Cemetery.
