August B “Ben” Hubertz, 91, of Lafayette, died at 11:55 a.m. Saturday July 30, 2011, at St. Elizabeth Central.
Born August 26, 1919, in Lafayette, he was the son of the late Bernard and Magdaline Batta Hubertz. He attended St. Boniface School.
He married Avanelle Ryan on Oct. 29, 1940 at St. Boniface Church in Lafayette. She survives.
He served in the Army during WWII and Korea. Mr. Hubertz worked for ALCOA for 42 1/2 years and retired in 1983. He was a member of St. Boniface Church, Eagles Lodge Aerie 347, Catholic Order of Forsters, ALCOA 25 Year Club and was Past President of the ALCOA Retirees Club. He enjoyed woodworking and working outdoors.
Surviving along with his wife are sons, Terrance B. Hubertz (wife: Connie) and Kevin D. Hubertz (wife: Carol), both of Lafayette.
Also surviving are grandchildren Bridget Bolles (husband: David), Aaron Hubertz (wife: Sandra), Jennifer Alvey (husband: Scott) and Kristen Hubertz (fiance: Cory) and 3 great granddaughters.
Mass of Christian Burial will be at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at St. Boniface Church. Fr. Timothy Alkire officiating. Burial will be at St. Boniface Cemetery.

Grandpa,
I pray everyday for you and our family. Words can not describe or express how much I am going to miss you in my life, and in the life of us all. You meant everything in the world to me and our family. I am the person I am today because of your influence and love.

I will and have always been proud to say that you were my Grandpa. You are the greatest man that I have ever known and I can only hope to have your many talents, humor, and love. I know you will always be looking down upon us and even Heaven is a happier place with your presence.

You will always be in my heart everyday of my life until we meet again. And, you will be remembered everytime I get on the riding tractor, use your tools you gave me, or I smoke a cigar. I will always love you and be thankful for all the wonderful years God has blessed us with.
