Arnulfo “Arnie” Amador, 75 of Lafayette, passed away Thursday, May 6, 2021 at St. Vincent Hospital in Indianapolis. He was born July 21, 1945, in Weslaco, Tx. He was the fourth child of the late Augustine and Juanita (Rodriguez) Amador.

Arnie served in the Army and was a veteran in the Vietnam War.

He married Shirley Reid in 1967, she preceded him in death in 1981. He then married Cheryl Beach in 1990.

Arnie worked at Bendix in South Bend before moving to Lafayette where he spent sixteen years at Subaru of Indiana Automotive.

He is survived by five children, Amanda and Angela Amador both of Tucson, AZ, Christie, Will and Vincent Amador all of Lafayette, four sisters, Alice, Amy, Abby and Annette and a brother, Armondo all of Tucson, AZ. Also surviving are five grandchildren, Shanté, Antonio and Reyes of Tucson, AZ and Sheryll “Katie” and Leah of Lafayette. As well as two great grandchildren, Aaron and Aurora.

Arnie was preceded in death by a sister, Adele and five brothers, Tony, Rocco, Art, Alex and Alonzo. Those wishing may contribute in Arnie’s name to the American Heart Association.

A memorial service will be held at a later date.
