Anne M. “Micki” Diesslin, 89, died at 12:50 a.m. Friday, Dec. 18, 2009, at her West Lafayette residence.
She was born April 23, 1920, in Pickens, S.C., to the late Delancy L. and Lillias A. Price Halford. She graduated from Easley High School and attended Winthrop College.
On March 4, 1944, she married Howard G. Diesslin in Easley. He preceded her in death Jan. 2, 2006.
Mrs. Diesslin was a homemaker and had worked at West Lafayette School Corporation as a secretary in the superintendants office.
She was a member of Central Presbyterian Church, and had volunteered at the church&s library and front desk. She had been a Cub Scout den leader and Girl Scout leader; was a member of P.E.O. and was past president of Chapter D; had volunteered as a Pink Lady at Home Hospital and was past president of the Home Hospital Auxiliary and West Lafayette Library. While living in Washington, D.C., she volunteered at the White House.
She enjoyed the beach at Edisto Island and spending time with her grandchildren.
Surviving are a daughter Carol Crochet, and two sons, David H. Diesslin (wife: Deena) of Arlington, Texas, and Richard Lee Diesslin (wife: Mindy) of Beavercreek, Ohio.
Also surviving are 3 grandchildren, Grady L. Diesslin (wife: Kathryn), Sally Anne Diesslin and Neil D. Diesslin.
There will be a memorial service 2 p.m. Sunday, Jan. 24, 2010, at Central Presbyterian Church, 31 N. 7th St. Lafayette, IN. 47901. Rev. Dr. Jeff Cover will be officiating. In lieu of flower, those wishing may contribute to either Central Presbyterian Church or the Salvation Army at 1110 Union St., Lafayette, IN 47904.
