Ann Elizabeth Gretencord passed away unexpectedly Tuesday in her home in West Lafayette, Indiana. She was born to Arthur and Margaret (Adams) Gretencord in Tuscola, Illinois on May 13, 1939.
Ann was preceded in death by her parents, Arthur and Margaret Gretencord and stepfather Eldon Engel. She is survived by her brothers and sisters, Wayne (Barbara) Gretencord of Mineral Virginia, Donna (Terry) Meek of Richmond, Kentucky, Max (Vern) Gretencord of Osceola, Indiana and David (Nikki) Gretencord of Williamsport, Indiana. She is also survived by stepbrothers and stepsisters Dan and Dawn Dock of Raleigh, North Carolina and Terry and Linda New of Lafayette.
She graduated from Boswell High School in 1956 and afterward attended Indiana State University. She retired from Purdue University after a 35-year career, first as a secretary and later as assistant administrator working with doctoral students and faculty in the Krannert School of Management.
During her life, Ann enjoyed studying interior design and various aspects of architecture. She delighted in all her nieces, nephews and their children, and treasured their pictures, emails and visits. During her life she met every adversity with a positive attitude. She will be truly missed by her many friends and family.
Visitation will be at Soller-Baker West Lafayette Chapel on Friday from 5:00 to 8:00 p.m. Rite of Christian Burial will be celebrated at Sacred Heart Church in Fowler, Indiana at 11:00 a.m. followed by burial at the Sacred Heart Cemetery on Saturday. The family requests donations in Ann’s memory be made to Riley Hospital for Children or to Sacred Heart School in Fowler.
