The family of Andre (Manny) Davis announces a tremendous loss to us all. Surrounded by his beautiful wife and brave children, Dre found peace and is now eternally resting, taking his last breath on July 2nd, 2024 following a heroic battle with Cancer.
Born August 24th, 1979 to Andre Rowell and Kim (Davis) Kidd, Dre was a lifelong resident of Lafayette.
Dre graduated from McCutcheon High School in 1997 where he was a standout multisport athlete.
On October 25th, 2008, Dre married his lifelong partner Angie (Hardy) Davis at Diamondhead in Ft Myers, FL, she survives.
We can all be comforted in knowing that his legacy will carry on for years ahead through the lives of his children: Andrew-24, Isaac-24, Kameron-23, CJ-13, and Evie-2.
Dre was a loyal University of Michigan sports fan, and his lifelong love of competitive sports was carried beyond his playing years through countless hours spent coaching and developing his children in multiple sports. From coaching little league baseball to AAU basketball, sports were a constant in the Davis home. A true student of the game, he volunteered in various leagues around town as a youth sports referee. Winning the championship with his sons in the 7th grade Illinois gold AAU competition with only six players was just one example of his coaching style that instilled the championship mentality and brought out the best in his players.
In addition to Angie and his children, Dre is survived by his Mother Kim (Charles) Kidd & Andre (Cheryl) Rowell, Grandmother Carolyn Flowers, Uncle Chris Davis, special Aunts Tina and Carmen Davis, and siblings Duke & Miracle Lucas.
Dre was preceded in death by his paternal Grandmother Annie Glover and his maternal Grandparents Nelson Martin Davis Sr. (Jug) & Marie Davis, and Great Grandparents Charles & Burn Willis.
Dre was truly one of one, a treasured son, devoted father, and an incredibly loyal friend to everyone that he crossed paths with. His glowing smile and contagious laugh are traits that he will forever be remembered for. Those who knew Dre know that he was his authentic self no matter the situation or circumstances, his constant pursuit of a good time was signature to his brand. A frequent creator of a delicious meal accompanied by his signature tea, Dre enjoyed cooking and entertaining friends and family at every opportunity. As we all mourn this loss, know that Dre’s wish is for us all to celebrate his life and the legacy he leaves behind.
