Anant Krishna Ramdas of West Lafayette, IN, passed away peacefully on Friday, November 22, 2024, at the Westminster Health Center.
Dr. Ramdas was born to Lakshminarayanapuram A. Ramdas and Kalyani Ramdas on 19th May 1930 at Pune, India. He completed B.Sc. in 1950 and MSc in 1953 from Poona University. He earned his Ph.D. from Poona University, Pune, in 1956 for the research done under the guidance of Sir C. V. Raman.
Ramdas started his career as Research Associate, at Purdue University in 1956. He became Assistant Professor of Physics (1960-62), Associate Professor of Physics, (1962-67), and Professor of Physics, Purdue University, (1967-2002). From 2002 he was the Lark-Horovitz Distinguished Professor of Physics. Since 2016, he was the Lark-Horovitz Distinguished Professor of Physics Emeritus.
He is survived by his wife Vasanti Ramdas and his sisters Vijaya Ramnath, Rajalakshmi Ram and brother L. R. Ram-Mohan.
