Alta Marie Davis, 81, of Zionsville, Indiana, died at home on Monday, May 28, 2018
Alta was born November 20, 1936, in Tazewell, Tennessee, to the late Adolphus and Nannie Fultz Smith. She graduated from Jefferson High School (class of 1954) in Lafayette, Indiana.
Following graduation, Alta worked for Public Service Indiana and was also a model for the National Homes Corporation in Lafayette. She was a homemaker and was a member of Psi Iota Xi and the Zionsville Women’s Club. Alta was a member of Salem United Methodist Church in Zionsville.
Alta was married to Lewis Lee Davis on June 7, 1959. He preceded her in death July 15,2014.
Surviving are her daughters, D’Andrea Lee Davis Speer (Gregg), Danelle Marie Davis Butler (William), and Delaine Mar-Lee Davis, her grandchildren, Maclane Davis Speer, Kensington Marie Speer, Laine Elizabeth Butler and Reece Marie Butler, her nephew, Gerry Downham (Shirley), and her sister, Alma Downham.
Visitation will be held from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m., Saturday, June 2, 2018, at Soller-Baker Lafayette Chapel (400 Twyckenham Blvd.), followed by the funeral service at 1 p.m. Burial will be at Sugar Grove Cemetery in Tippecanoe County.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to NICHES Land Trust for Clegg Memorial Garden (1782 N 400 E, Lafayette, Indiana 47905).
