Alice Jane Brown (Jane) of Indianapolis, IN passed away peacefully on the morning of March 5th, 2021 at the age of 98 years.
Jane was born on July 19,1922 in Crawfordsville, IN, daughter to the late Dwight and Lois Keim.
Jane was preceded in death by her parents, her brother Robert, and her husband, Paul Brown, to whom she was married for 55 years prior to his passing in 2002.
Jane was raised in West Lafayette, IN and graduated from West Lafayette High School before attending Purdue University, earning her bachelor’s and master’s degrees. She was a member of Chi Omega sorority and an active member of the campus community.
Jane and Paul moved to Fort Worth, TX. She taught at Texas Christian University before returning to West Lafayette, where she worked as Director of Placement Services for Women at Purdue University. Following her time at Purdue, Jane transitioned her energy to raising her daughter Becky, and later helping to raise her grandchildren.
Jane was an exceptionally active gardener, and served as a nationally accredited Master Flower Judge while being engaged in multiple state and local gardening clubs and organizations. Jane was also a member of Epworth United Methodist Church in Indianapolis. She was an avid sports fan, enjoyed keeping up on current events, and lived independently at home with her daughter until her passing. Most of all, she enjoyed spending time with her daughter, grandchildren, and great grandchildren.
Jane is survived by her daughter Becky Brown, grandsons Paul Luebcke (m. Becky), Keith Luebcke (m. Josie) and Brent Luebcke (m. Caitlin), and her great grandchildren Kaiden, Madelyn, Katherine, and Cecilia Luebcke.
Jane will be interred at Oak Hill Cemetery in Crawfordsville, IN with her husband Paul, who will receive military funeral honors for his years of service in the United States Navy.
