Alfred Anthony “Tony” Bollock, Jr., age 79, passed away December 17, 2011 at Indiana University Health Arnett Hospital in Lafayette from complications as a result of ALS (Lou Gehrig?s disease). He was born on October 24, 1932 in Lafayette and graduated from Jefferson High School in 1950.
After graduation, Tony joined the Air Force and was stationed at Castle air Force Base in California. There he met Carol Ann Erickson and they were married on December 25, 1954. While in California he learned the countertop fabrication trade working at Artcraft in Turlock, CA. After moving back to Lafayette in 1959, he started his own business, Bollock Industries on Oct 1st 1960.
Tony was the second of five children born to the late Alfred A. “Art” Bollock, Sr. and Luella Josephine Anthrop Bollock. He was the beloved husband of Carol for almost 57 years and is survived by his three children, Sandra Young (husband Steven), Sharon Bollock and Stuart Bollock (wife Mary Lee), and grandsons Kendall and Ian Bollock.
Also surviving are siblings, Ron Bollock (wife Kathy), Bill Bollock (wife Vicky) and Loretta Evans (husband George). His elder sister, Mary Jo Bollock, preceded him in death.
Tony was a member of the South Congregation of Jehovah?s Witnesses for over 46 years and served as a congregation elder for almost 40 years. He volunteered with the local patient visitation committee ministering to other Jehovah?s Witnesses who were hospital patients.
Tony was an engaging person who loved people and knew no stranger. He valued and respected his numerous employees over the past 51 years. He was always a generous person with his time, resources and advice. He was an avid Cubs fan who enjoyed attending games with friends and family. Tony loved adventure and relished traveling, visiting many parts of the world with his family. But foremost, he loved the Bible and enjoyed discussing it with others, even when he was ill and it was difficult to talk. He was particularly interested in Bible prophecy regarding God?s Kingdom and what it will accomplish for all mankind.
Friends may call from 2 to 4 p.m. Saturday, Jan 7, 2012 at Soller-Baker Funeral Home on Twyckenham Blvd. with a memorial to follow at 4 p.m., Mark Ristow officiating.
