Jack P. Baker, 80
Jack P. Baker, 80, of Lafayette, IN, died at 9:02 PM Monday April 1, 2013 at IU Arnett Hospital. He was born February 8, 1933, in Lafayette, IN, to the late Emmett and Helen Baker. On August 12, 1951 he married Deloris Underhill in Lafayette. He was a member of the Church of the Blessed Sacrament .
Things to remember about Dad. He served in the National Guard. He was a member of American legion post #11 for many years. He was a member of post # 492 when they were breaking ground to build it.
He attended Lafayette Jefferson High School then worked for Indiana gravel in his early years. The company name changed to Medusa Aggregates, and was then bought by Vulcan materials for 40 plus years of services. He was also a member of the Eagles Lodge, Enjoyed travelling Indiana, Golfing, watching Purdue basketball, and spending time with his children and grandchildren.

“My dad enjoyed everything about life. Everything that was simple was his pot of gold!
His love for family was seen and recognized by all of his children and grand children. None are without a story to tell how he made each one feel special.
He never let a day go by without thinking of our mother, he talked about her wonderful cooking and how he missed her. But most of all he was a concrete post for what a Hoosier really is.
So the next time you’re out roaming Indiana and you lookout your car window you just might see him next to a wavy corn field or that new bridge they built , he could show up at the windmills. If you’re going to Turkey Run State Park or Sugar Creek, keep a eye open!!
For those around old River Road and the Wabash River, his spirit will follow. For new born livestock he’s the man, if you’re around Battle Ground, he will be close. If you are going to Amish country, he’ll fill you in where it’s the best. So when your cheering on those Boilers or Indy 500 winner or even get that cold Indiana chill, think of dad and he will keep you warm. Yes dad could have been the cover picture for Wander Indiana!! His life was a refection of this and you could see that in his spirit towards friends and family. That is what truly makes a great Hoosier.
What a great father he was!! He will always be there. Love you Dad,- Greg.”
